LeBron James has become more charitable with his teammates as his game has matured over time. Old LeBron loved taking charge and was constantly in the billboard photo. Despite aging, his game hasn’t decreased.
Quite the opposite, we find a version of LeBron James who is quite comparable to some of the best passers the game has ever seen.
James delivered some of the most stunning dimes in the competition and won a Gold Medal and Olympic MVP Award. Not bad for a 40-year-old player.
Comparing LeBron James’ game to someone right today is difficult because he no longer has that explosiveness yet still plays elegantly. He can see a pass better than anyone else and does many no-look passes that drive spectators crazy.
That reminds you of who? For LeBron James’ current game, former NBA champion Michael Cooper had the ideal analogy.
Speaking to Scoop Rario, Cpper said: “He reminds me of Magic when he came back from retirement. LeBron’s athleticism is still there, just not as good. But he still has the knowledge and smarts.”
The difference here is that Magic Johnson was playing this beautiful Globe Trotter style of game since he was a teenager and he never stopped. Whereas James warmed up to that style and we got the best form of that style during the last Olympic Games.
Not that he can’t dunk the ball anymore, we simply see him moving forward more as a game organizer than a scorer. After all, he already exceeded Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring record and all he has left is to keep enjoying the game alongside to his son Bronny throughout these final years.
