A “embarrassing” message about Euro 2024 was sent by Chelsea just before the England vs. Spain final.
After seeming to support Marc Cucurella and Spain over England in the Euro 2024 final, Chelsea has come under fire Cucurella participated in every game as La Roja advanced to the tournament’s championship this summer. Following a dismal season with his club, the Blues, he now plays a leading role for his country.
At Stamford Bridge, the left-back plays with England players Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher. They have both contributed to the Three Lions’ journey to the Berlin final on Sunday.
Strangely, though, Chelsea chose to send Cucurella a social media good luck message first as an English team. They praised the 25-year-old the left-back beside two images of him playing for Spain.
Berlin is the next destination. The right wingers in Europe are scared because Cucu is on fire. At the Euros, our Spanish left-back has played exceptionally well. Neater on the ball, aggressive off it,” the tweet from Chelsea’s account said.
“Marc is throwing everything onto the field, up and down the left touchline. He’s ready for the big show now that the Blues have seen what he’s capable of earlier this year. Marc, this is your moment. Wishing you luck.”
However, that sparked a heated response from England supporters, who attacked the Blues for their post. A supporter penned: “Fold the entire team. intended as an English club.
One more person said, “Weird club, man. As an English club, how are you posting this?” “Chelsea’s social media is honestly embarrassing,” raged a third. Not claiming that because of the manner they write their posts, which is more in favor of Cucurella here.”
A fourth individual commented: “Bigging up their £65m flop when the guy who saved them from relegation is playing for England.” In a vicious reply, a fifth said, “The last straw. Remove them from the league.”
Eventually, Chelsea posted notes to Palmer and Gallagher, each of which was fashioned after Cucurella’s. Chelsea praised Palmer for his assist on Ollie Watkins’ game-winning goal in the semi-finals against the Netherlands.
“On his trip to Berlin, balling. A turning point for the Three Lions. When he approaches the touchline, the English give a cheer. The Blues posted on Twitter, “Cometh the hour, cometh the man.”
“The coldest man in the stadium sent the keeper the wrong way with all eyes on the first kick of the shootout. Accuracy and intent. With minutes remaining in Dortmund, the cutting pass that proved to be the winner. We Blues are aware of his abilities. Cole, this is your moment. Wishing you luck!”
