The Dallas Cowboys offer unlimited access to Netflix for impending Jerry Jones doc.
Netflix is digging deep inside the scenes of the Dallas Cowboys, first with their docu-series about the cheerleaders and now owner Jerry Jones.
Netflix has been fortunate recently as they’ve been allowed full access into one of America’s hottest topics: the Dallas Cowboys.
This Thursday, they will premiere a seven-episode docu-series about the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders (“America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders”) and what it takes to be a part of the team.
Director Greg Whitely has said that the Dallas Cowboys provided them the kind of “unfettered access” that allowed them to present a “authentic portrait of one of the most storied and beloved institutions we have in American pop culture”.
But that’s not all. Another series is coming to Netflix featuring the Cowboys’ rich owner, Jerry Jones.
Netflix announced back in May that they would also be teaming with Skydance Sports and NFL Films to broadcast a 10-part docu-series about Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. And it appears like they were given full access and never-before-seen footage to construct this one as well.
The series, helmed by Emmy-award winners Maclain Way and Chapman Way (“Wild Wild Country”), will explore Jones’ ownership with particular focus on the 1990′s club, when the Cowboys established a dynasty as three-time Super Bowl champions. Since Jones purchased the franchise in 1989, the Cowboys have become not only the most valued team in the NFL, but in all of the sports globe.
In 2023, they were worth $9 billion. That number goes growing every year despite the fact that the 90s was the last time they won anything at all. Once the legacy was formed, it just continued growing. This documentary will expose just how that transpired.
