The Golden Knights’ broadcast ranked ninth in ‘The Athletic’ fan vote poll.
The Athletic released their annual broadcasted rankings that the people voted on and the Vegas Golden Knights rated ninth. The Athletic stated how they made this list saying:
“We ask fans to rank their favorite teams’ broadcasts on a scale from 1 to 5 and invite them to rate as many other local broadcasts as they desire.
This year we got around 7,000 answers from people wanting an opportunity to review and provide input. We then used your grades and suggestions to rank the regional broadcasts of all 32 NHL teams.
In terms of our approach, we average out the results of the survey to offer each broadcast with a local and national score. Teams are then assigned a national and local rank, which is averaged into a composite score.”
The Golden Knights broadcast crew includes Dave Goucher, Shane Hnidy, Darren Eliot, Gary Lawless, Ashali Vise and Daren Millard. The Golden Knights broadcast crew jumped from 15 last year to nine this year.
The local rank for the Golden Knights was tenth and the national rank was ninth. Fans wrote in and gave explanations as to why they had the Golden Knights broadcast team ranked so highly. “Vegas has the best overall U.S. broadcast and I’m an Anaheim Ducks fan,” commented one reply.
“Dave Goucher has been here from the start and is educated and passionate on his call,” remarked one Vegas fan. “Shane Hnidy brings in his intimate knowledge of the sport and breaks it down for easy consumption. They are a terrific duo, and Las Vegas is incredibly lucky to have had them since the outset.”
The Boston Bruins’ local network ‘NESN’ tried to pull Goucher from the Golden Knights broadcast but he elected to stay with the franchise.
Scripps Sports has made viewing Golden Knights games even more entertaining and thrilling for fans and it’s fantastic to see them get the accolades they deserve.
