Update: A Lakers free agent expressed reluctance to leave the city…

Lakers News: The Los Angeles role player hopes to remain in the city as a free agent.

Taurean Prince, a reserve combo forward for the Los Angeles Lakers, will be eligible for free agency this summer. He signed a one-season, $4.5 million contract using the team’s bi-annual exception just one year prior.

The 6-foot-7 wing was maybe miscast by Darvin Ham as a starter for a large portion of 2023–24, but he proved to be a reliable if reserved floor spacer for the Purple and Gold last season.

He averaged 8.9 points on.442/.396/.735 shooting splits, 2.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 0.7 steals a game with Los Angeles over 78 games (49 starts).

Although he is an overvalued defender, he has demonstrated that he is a proficient three-point shooter, even though he was occasionally reluctant to shoot the ball from beyond the arc. Each night, he needed 4.6 triple tries.

Prince stated in a recent interview with Trevor Lane of Lakers Nation that he intends to wear the Purple and Gold until at least 2024–2025.

“My family, the quality of life in Los Angeles is something that myself and my family [haven’t] had in probably three or four seasons,” Prince stated.

Therefore, staying here would be the best option. If not that, then I mean, I’ll be wherever the dominoes fall and it is most advantageous. But I really do want to play for the Laker team.”

Prince is undoubtedly valuable to retain at a fair price, but Los Angeles has more pressing matters to attend to, such as resolving the future plans of D’Angelo Russell and LeBron James, who both have player options.
