According to Eric Edholm of NFL.com, Rodgers discussed the following regarding the high expectations for the upcoming campaign and what’s at stake in 2024:
Rodgers stated, “Well, I think we’re all probably gonna be out of here (next season) if I don’t do what I’m capable of doing.” However, I enjoy that level of pressure. I am aware that it is not a market that is suitable for everyone. Savor that chance.
That is the NFL’s nature. If you don’t perform as you get older in the league, they’ll either bench you or bring in the next guy to take your place.
I was a couple years older then when it happened in Green Bay. I anticipate us being productive and competitive, that we will play at a high level, and that everything else will work itself out.
Rodgers signed a two-year, $75 million contract with the Jets prior to the 2023 season, and he has one year remaining on it. He clarified that his status with the squad is based more on performance than contract duration, though. The same holds true for his army.
The third-ranked defense from the previous season is returning for the Jets. In addition, they will start the season with two wide receivers with 1,000 yards or more, Mike Williams and Garrett Wilson, a strong backfield lead by Breece Hall, and Olu Fashanu, one of the top left tackle prospects in recent memory, to protect Aaron Rodgers under center.
According to some pundits, the Jets could win up to 14 games in 2019. A record like that will demand greatness, even as Rodgers gets closer to his 40th birthday.
The Jets, with an average age of 27 years, 4 months, and 2 days, fielded the oldest squad in the NFL as of the start of 2023. As a result, in addition to Rodgers, other seasoned players like linebacker C.J. Mosley (31) and offensive lineman Tyron Smith (33) will also be closely watched.
Fortunately for them, New York features a good mix of both young and experienced standout players, so the pressure will be increasing on each of them.
But Rodgers, a four-time league MVP, knows full well that he will shoulder the most of the criticism should the Jets falter.
