A smile cookie campaign helps a children’s treatment center raise almost $55,000.
The Pritchard family and Mike and Paula Grail, the owners of the Tim Hortons franchise, worked together to raise $54,618 for the charity at their Chatham, Wallaceburg, and Dresden sites, according to a release.
In the Chatham Armoury kitchen, over 150 community volunteers assisted in the baking and decorating of over 29,000 cookies.
The money donated by this yearly campaign continues to support the Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent, which provides activities and services to thousands of children annually of all ages.
According to the foundation, “These contributions make a significant impact on the lives of children in our community who have developmental, physical, or communication challenges.” In 1996, the Smile Cookie campaign was launched with the goal of assisting Hamilton Children’s Hospital.
With the help of nearby companies and patron support, it has developed into one of Tim Hortons’ largest community engagement and fundraising campaigns over time. In one week, last year’s campaign raised almost $19.7 million for charitable causes around the country.
