Amazing: A girl gave free cookies to a neighborhood…

A Girl Scout troop gives the neighborhood cookies.

News) — After selling Girls Scout Cookies with great success, Troop 51004 focused on delivering courtesy packages to specific community individuals.

75 boxes of cookies were given to three lucky organizations: the Holzer Health Systems Meigs Emergency Department, the Darst Private Care Home, and the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office.

The Girl Scouts set up booths at neighborhood businesses during the yearly cookie sale to sell cookies and raise money for their service initiatives. This year, the cookies were bought using the donations.

“Kyger Creek Power Plant and other community members who contributed money during our cookie booths made it all possible. Jennifer McKibben, the troop leader, stated, “We sincerely thank them.”

When she told a Darst resident that the cookies were free, she stated it was her favorite part of giving them.

McKibben described it as “the look of joy on receiving those cookies.” “At that point, I wished I had the camera. That justifies the value of our work.”

Troop 51004 of the Girl Scouts of the Big Bend Service Unit in Meigs County participates in numerous service projects with the Girl Scouts throughout the year, such as writing holiday cards to first responders and placing wreaths on Wreaths Across America Day.

Along with gathering food to be given to Community Blessing Boxes, they also hosted a Veterans Spaghetti Dinner where more than fifty veterans were fed.

Every troop has its own projects. Troop 51004 created care packages that Square One will distribute, cards for seniors living in assisted living homes, and biscuits for the dog shelter this past fall. McKibben is quite proud of the work the girls accomplish all year long.

“On my honor, I will try to serve God and my country, to help people at all times, and to live by the Girl Scout Law,” is a commitment kept by Girl Scouts in Meigs County.
