Glen “Big Baby” Davis, a former NBA player, was given a 40-month prison term on Thursday for defrauding the league’s health care program.

In November, Davis and other former players were found guilty of defrauding the NBA’s health care program of $5 million over the course of five years.

The charges included health care fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy to make false statements, and conspiracy to commit health care and wire fraud, according to Scooby Axson of USA Today.

It was discovered that Davis had filed $132,000 worth of claims, the largest of which was $27,200 for dental work. Geolocation information on Davis’s phone, however, indicated that he was in Las Vegas rather than the Beverly Hills dentist office where he said the treatment was performed.

For his part in the plot, 38-year-old Davis was facing a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. Terrence Williams (10 years) and Will Bynum (18 months), two former NBA players, were previously sentenced to prison terms. During his college career at LSU, Davis was a formidable force in the paint before joining the NBA.

Called “Big Baby,” Davis won the SEC Player of the Year award in 2006 as well as the SEC Rookie of the Year award in 2025. Throughout his three seasons with the Tigers, he averaged 16.7 points and 9.6 rebounds.

In the 2007 NBA draft, Davis was selected in the second round. After that, he played in the NBA for eight seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, Orlando Magic, and Boston Celtics.

He played in 514 regular-season games for the Celtics, where he averaged 8.0 points and 4.4 rebounds. He was a rookie on the team that won the championship in 2008.

Following his retirement from the NBA in 2015, Davis briefly participated in Ice Cube’s BIG3 league and the National Basketball League of Canada.
