When a suspected drunk driver crashed into a child’s birthday celebration at a Michigan boat club on Saturday, killing an 8-year-old girl and her 5-year-old sibling, 15 other people were injured in the horrific collision.
At roughly 3 p.m., a 66-year-old lady driving an SUV crashed into the side of the Swan Boat Club. She then drove about 25 feet into the structure before stopping, according to Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough at a press conference on Saturday.
The driver, whose identity has not been made public by the police, was arrested on suspicion of operating a car while intoxicated and causing death. It is anticipated that the offender will face more charges. According to Goodnough, the driver was assisting the police.
