Breaking news: Josh Reynolds join Broncos…

The Dallas Cowboys free agent rumor? Lions’ Josh Reynolds Signs with Broncos.

In a salary cap-saving move, the Dallas Cowboys released wideout Michael Gallup earlier this month. Gallup was considered untradable due to his $13 million APY contract, and the Cowboys saved $9.5 million in cap capacity.

While the move was inevitable, not simply because of Gallup’s impact on the team’s financial condition but also due to his subpar performance last season,. Dallas would do itself well to replace Gallup with a player who can contribute more than Gallup did in his final season in Dallas, when he posted career lows in targets (57), catches (34), and yards (418).

One available free agency wideout the Cowboys have been matched with is Lions pass-catcher Josh Reynolds. The former Texas A&M Aggies receiver was high on the list of potential players still on the open market for several NFL insiders, including at The Athletic.

“Don’t disregard Reynolds because of his important drops in the NFC Championship Game; per PFF, he had only three drops during the complete regular season. He possesses size and a strong catch radius, and he has made big receptions for his squad all season long.

“He is physical, fighting through contact and drawing his share of pass interference calls. His speed is not elite, but he possesses the body control to go in and out of breaks pretty well for a big man. He should be a solid No. 2 WR in the league.”

Last season, Reynolds had 40 catches for 608 yards and five touchdowns over 17 games, and Spotrac.com forecasts Reynolds to sign a two-year, $14.088 million deal in free agency.

Alas, two problems: Reynolds recently signed with Denver, and yes, it’s a two-year deal with a maximum of $14 million. And two, what do we now know about Jerry Jones’ Cowboys? They are flinging about $14 million in contracts like they’re manhole covers.
