The Arsenal supporters fight back at Michael Antonio after he labels them ‘delusional’
Arsenal supporters have fired back at Michael Antonio after the West Ham United attacker suggested they were ‘delusional’. Mikel Arteta’s squad leads Liverpool and Manchester City in the fight for the Premier League title.
But while Antonio has been impressed with the Gunners this season, he labeled Arsenal fans ‘annoying’ and ‘delusional’ during the latest episode of The Footballer’s Football Podcast. He said, “Arsenal fans, they annoy me. I’m talking about my agency, my family, and my friends. Because as soon as they are tiptoeing near to winning anything, they’re the best squad in the world.
‘It’s simply astounding how delusional these folks are! Last year, when we beat Arsenal at home when they were at the top of the league, my agent called me up and called me a wasteman!”
Unsurprisingly, Antonio’s views have gotten a short shrift from numerous furious Arsenal fans online. One fan clapped back by bringing up the Gunners’ recent 6-0 hammering of the Hammers, posting: “Six-nil wasn’t enough to humble him; talk about delusional.”
Others were also eager to highlight that result when challenging his evaluation. Another person said, “His manager knows we are the best side his team has faced this season, lol,” while a third fan said, “Lost 6-0 to us at home, but whatever….”.
However, despite his controversial comments on the Arsenal crowd, Antonio has also claimed that he has been impressed by how the Gunners and Arteta have responded to their title misery last season.
