Predicted lineup: Chelsea XI versus Leicester, official team news, and injury updates for the FA Cup encounter
Chelsea have been bolstered by the return of Ben Chilwell and Benoit Badiashile for their FA Cup quarter-final against Leicester.
Chilwell is back after missing Monday’s 3-0 win against Newcastle with a knee ailment, and Badiashile is fit again after five weeks out with a groin injury.
Enzo Fernandez is suspended, but Mauricio Pochettino is expected to stay with a similar team to the one that beat Newcastle. Mykhailo Mudryk might come in for Fernandez, with Conor Gallagher dropping deeper in midfield.
New first-choice goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic is set to hold his place and might play in front of a back four of Malo Gusto, Axel Disasi, Trevoh Chalobah, and Chilwell. Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, and Raheem Sterling were all expected to preserve their places.
Chilwell has been checked by a knee specialist and was approved to return to training on Tuesday. He has been chosen for the England squad to face Brazil and Belgium. “Gareth told you he was fit [by selecting him for England],” stated Pochettino.
“He is in training, and I think everything is going well. He will be in the squad for Sunday, definitely. “When a player comes back from injury, starts to feel fit, and then has a call-up for the national team, they are always so excited. So, he is excited like the rest of the players [chosen for England].”
Predicted Chelsea XI: Petrovic; Gusto, Disasi, Chalobah, Chilwell; Gallagher, Caicedo; Palmer, Mudryk, Sterling; Jackson
