President Biden and Donald Trump prepare for the November election after primaries.

Biden and Trump are expected to clinch nominations after Republican and Democratic primaries in Washington, Georgia, and Mississippi.

President Biden secured the Democratic nomination on Tuesday, as predicted by CBS News, following his anticipated win in the Georgia primary. Former President Donald Trump has the potential to secure the Republican presidential nomination after the results of the GOP voting contests in Georgia, Washington, Mississippi, and Hawaii are determined.

Primary elections are being held by Republicans in Georgia, Mississippi, and Washington, while Hawaii is conducting GOP caucuses. The Democratic Party is conducting primary elections in Georgia, Mississippi, Washington, and the Northern Mariana Islands. Additionally, Democrats living overseas are participating in the voting process.

Nikki Haley, the former United Nations Ambassador and Trump’s top competitor, ended her campaign for the White House following the Super Tuesday primaries. Mr. Biden faces no significant contenders.

Trump exerted his dominance over the Republican field by not engaging in any debates with his primary opponents, and he has continued to exert his dominance by winning the early state nominating contests.

The ex-president is currently transitioning into the general election stage of the presidential campaign, while also confronting a total of 91 felony counts across four criminal proceedings.The commencement of his initial criminal trial is scheduled on March 25 in New York, where he is confronted with 34 counts pertaining to purported “hush money” transactions made to adult film star Stormy Daniels in relation to the 2016 presidential election.

Trump is also confronted with state criminal accusations in Georgia for purportedly meddling in the 2020 presidential election, in addition to federal allegations in Washington, D.C. He is also facing federal charges in Florida over his handling of secret information following his presidency.

In the four battles Tuesday, 161 GOP delegates are at risk. Trump has over 1,075 delegates, according to CBS News projections, and is closing in on the 1,215 delegates needed to capture the nomination. There are 254 Democratic delegates that can be gained in the March 12 contests, with Mr. Biden closing in on the 1,968 required to clinch.

Trump would be the first Republican in history ever to earn the presidential nomination three straight times. Richard Nixon won the GOP nomination three times, although not in consecutive cycles.

For Republicans, in Georgia, 59 delegates are on the line; in Mississippi, 40 delegates are in play; in Washington, that’s 43 delegates; in the Hawaii caucus, 19 delegates are up for grabs.

Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m., although any voter in line at 7 p.m. is entitled to cast a ballot, according to state laws.  Polls open at 7 a.m. CT (8 a.m. ET) and close at 7 p.m. CT (8 p.m. ET) but like in Georgia, any voter in line at 7 p.m. will be eligible to cast a ballot.

Washington is a mail-in voting state, but voters may also cast ballots on Tuesday. Polls close at 8 p.m. PT (11 p.m. ET). Hawaii GOP caucus attendees will head to their caucuses from 6 p.m to 8 p.m. local time (12 a.m. to 2 a.m. ET). He needs under 140 delegates to reach 1,215.

Here is the latest delegate estimate from CBS News’ data desk: Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m., although any voter who was in line at 7 p.m. is entitled to cast a ballot, according to state laws.

Polls open at 7 a.m. CT (8 a.m. ET) and close at 7 p.m. CT (8 p.m. ET) but like in Georgia, any voter in line at 7 p.m. will be eligible to cast a ballot.

Washington is a mail-in voting state, but voters may also cast ballots on Tuesday. Polls close at 8 p.m. PT (11 p.m. ET). The Democratic party of the Northern Mariana Islands held their primaries from March 5-12. Polls closed at 4 a.m. ET.

Democrats Abroad can vote in person or submit their ballots via email, fax or postal mail. Polls close at 3 a.m. ET and results are anticipated on March 19.

With the results from the Northern Mariana Islands and Georgia, Mr. Biden is believed to have surpassed 1,968 delegates he needed to capture the Democratic candidacy.
