Las Vegas, Nev. (FOX5): Two Las Vegas women are facing a September murder trial following the death of a 101-year-old veteran about one year ago.
Herbert Muskin, 101, was traveling home from the supermarket with his wife on March 1, 2023, and was stopped at a red light when his automobile was hit from behind at the junction of Stephanie St. and Sunset Rd. in Henderson. Three female robbery suspects were in a car running from police during a high-speed chase.
Two of the women, Kassandra Alvarez and Lorraine Alvarado, now face felony murder charges in Muskin’s death. The World War II veteran’s wife was also hurt in the incident.
“In five seconds, my life changed,” Sherry Muskin told FOX5. “I’m a basket case.” Her husband suffered a broken neck in the incident and died later that month.
Sherry is now struggling financially after her husband’s death. The family has put up a fundraising page, and you can learn more about it here.
Alvarez and Alvarado have a preliminary hearing in Clark County District Court planned for April 3. Their trial is expected to begin on Sept. 30, with each facing over a dozen felony charges, including robbery, murder, and conspiracy to commit murder.
