Breaking news: FC. Porto shamed Arsenal with a 1-0 win…

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE LAST 16 RESULT AS FC PORTO 1-0 ARSENAL: GALENO HITS A LATE WINNER AGAINST MIKEL ARTETA’S MEN TO SECURE A FIRST-LEG ADVANTAGE AT THE ESTADIO DO DRAGAO.

RIO FERDINAND: “Arsenal controlled parts of the game, but at this level, you’ve got to make chances, make keepers work. “They would have been delighted with a 0-0, but this is the level you’re at. If you make mistakes and throw the ball away cheaply, you get punished. The quality here is the best of the high.”
He continued, “Arsenal looked like a shadow of themselves today.”
MARTIN KEOWN: “Porto kept to their game plan. Arsenal had 69 percent possession, with neither team generating anything.”
He continued, “It will be quite sickening for this young team to concede in the way they did.”
Galeno produced a spectacular stoppage-time goal as FC Porto grabbed a 1-0 victory over a lethargic Arsenal in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Last 16 contest at the Estadio do Dragao.
The Portuguese hosts saw little of the ball in the early stages but could have opened the scoring on 21 minutes when Galeno volleyed against the post before shooting a close-range rebound wide.

Arsenal struggled to create clear-cut chances but went close through William Saliba’s header from Bukayo Saka’s right-wing corner.
The pattern continued in the second half, with Declan Rice delivering a great block to deny Evanilson and Gabriel heading a last-gasp header wide.
It looked like both teams would cancel each other out, but Galeno had other plans as he curled in a 25-yard effort four minutes into additional time to take the first-leg advantage.
Arsenal will now return to Premier League action at home to Newcastle on Saturday, with the second leg of this contest at Emirates slated for March 12.
