A ‘Clinical’ Chelsea player could potentially be fit for selection to the League Cup final against Liverpool.
Reports have claimed that Chelsea could be poised to welcome back one player from injury at the best possible time.
According to the Evening Standard, youngster Carney Chukwuemeka has a chance of being fit to make the team that takes part in the EFL Cup final at the weekend against Liverpool.
This season has regrettably been as stop-start as it can get for Chukwuemeka, just as it looked as if he was ready to make his big breakthrough at Stamford Bridge.
He started the first two games of the season under Mauricio Pochettino, indicating the manager had plenty of faith in him.
He even found the net for the first time in a Chelsea shirt against West Ham, leading analyst and former Blue Marcel Desailly to praise him as ‘clinical’.
Moments later, though, he was pulled off with a knee injury, which would ultimately change everything. It has been stated since that he has been made to learn how to run differently as part of his recuperation.
He did make a brief return, marked by an assist picked up for Christopher Nkunku in the Premier League game against Liverpool. Now, it has been stated that his potential homecoming date might be as early as this Sunday at Wembley.
Being available for selection would be a major boost for Pochettino and his squad, who have been pushing hard for success in recent days.
Last time out against Manchester City was a tremendous workout for the Blues as they looked to cling on to their improbable lead.
While they may probably have been content with leaving the Etihad Stadium with a point, having first-team alternatives available from the bench would be a great boost for the side.
The starting slots in the midfield will almost definitely be held by Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, and Conor Gallagher.
