2024 NBA Three-Point Contest: Odds, Picks, and Prediction

Tonight, the final games before the NBA All-Star Break will take place, and then it will be time for the All-Star Weekend. All-Star Saturday night is going to contain the usuals: the skills challenge, the three-point contest, and the slam contest. Hawks point guard Trae Young is going to be participating in two of those.

The three-point contest has become the most anticipated of the events on All-Star Saturday night, and it is going to be a star-studded spectacle on Saturday.

Young, Jalen Brunson, Damian Lillard, Tyrese Haliburton, Malik Beasley, Karl Anthony-Towns, Lauri Markkanen, and Donovan Mitchell are going to be vying for the three-point crown, and Lillard is looking to defend his crown. Lillard won the event last year, while Towns won the year before.
So what are the oddsmakers saying about Saturday night?

Lillard (+370) is the favorite to defend his title as the three-point champion, but not by much. Haliburton (+440), Young (+550), Beasley (+650), Brunson (+700), Towns (+700), Markkanen (+800), and Mitchell (+950) are all realistic prospects to win the title.

I think that Beasley is an interesting selection for this weekend, as is Young. Of the players competing in the match, Beasley has the highest three-point percentage among them with 45%, which is 7th in the NBA. I think if there is one player that is overvalued a little bit in the odds market, it is Haliburton. He is second in the odds, although does not have as great of a three-point percentage as Beasley, Markkanen, and Brunson.

I think that Young is going to win his first All-Star Saturday night event. Picking these contests is challenging, but I am going to go for the first-time winner and one player who can hit from a distance. Young is third in the NBA in three-pointers made and none of the players in front of him (Steph Curry and Luka Doncic) are competing in this contest

My big prediction for coming Saturday is that Young narrowly beats out Beasley and Brunson in the final round. Young carries the hardware home to Atlanta.
