The Rock makes a daring prediction ahead of highly anticipated WrestleMania 40 press event
WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been at the center of one of the most dramatic build-ups to a WrestleMania in the past decade. Tonight, The Great One made a wild prediction for Thursday’s WrestleMania 40 opening press event.
In a recent social media post by WWE, the famous performer arrived in luxury via a private jet into Las Vegas ahead of the press event, which is set to cement some of the biggest fights for WrestleMania Weekend. In the short footage, The Rock remarked that he felt the event would be historic. This past week has been some of the most unpredictable times in WrestleMania season history.
Dwayne Johnson returned to WWE during the February 2nd broadcast of SmackDown, being presented by 2023 Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes. The Great One glanced down at his real-life cousin, reigning WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, perhaps implying that the fantasy match between the two men will finally take place.
However, as the WWE Universe in Birmingham, Alabama, cheered to see the Hollywood icon, fans on social media began to scream at the prospect of Cody Rhodes’ “story” being disrupted, since it seemed The American Nightmare had had a direct road to Roman Reigns since last year’s WrestleMania.
For the following 3 days, #WeWantCody trended on social media. The movement was even felt on the recent broadcast of Monday Night RAW, which saw the St. Louis fans scream “Rocky Sucks”—a reported “shock” for those backstage.
