When Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank contract during Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns, the main event match at WrestleMania 31, he pulled off “The Heist of the Century.” In order to get his first WWE World Heavyweight Championship, The Architect pinned The Big Dog. He retained the title for 220 days (WWE counts that as 219 days) before an injury forced him to give it up.
The architect suffered a knee-torn ACL, MCL, and medial meniscus on November 4, 2015. He was attempting to do a sunset flip powerbomb on Kane during a live event when this regrettable incident occurred. He had to give up the World Title since the surgery kept him out of commission for around six to nine months.
The current World Heavyweight Champion’s original intention was to face Roman Reigns in a feud and feature high-profile matchups on TLC and Survivor Series in December 2015. At one of the events, Rollins intended to give the title to Reigns so that Reigns would go into WrestleMania 32 as the victor. The arrangements have to be revised by WWE following Rollins’ injury.
According to the revised schedule, Roman Reigns defeated Dean Ambrose in the championship round of the Survivor Series 2015 to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. The reign as WWE Champion was only around for five minutes, as Sheamus used his MITB contract to earn the championship.
